Growing Up in the RV Business: A Family Affair at Transcona Trailer Sales

“We spent countless hours at campgrounds across Manitoba,” Bromley reminisces. “My dad was always tinkering and fixing things for our customers. It was there that I realized I wanted to be part of this industry.”

Travis Bromley, Sales Manager at Transcona Trailers, is the embodiment of a family-run RV dealership. His journey, deeply intertwined with the company’s history, offers a unique perspective on the industry.

From a young age, Bromley was immersed in the world of RVs. Summer vacations were synonymous with campgrounds. This early exposure ignited a passion that would shape his career path. “We spent countless hours at campgrounds across Manitoba,” Bromley reminisces. “My dad was always tinkering and fixing things for our customers. It was there that I realized I wanted to be part of this industry.

After high school, the Bromley siblings began their careers in the wash bays of their dealerships, progressing through various departments like parts and service before ultimately transitioning into sales. This comprehensive training, mandated by their father, ensured a deep understanding of the business. Earning the respect and trust of long-time staff and customers, particularly those loyal to previous generations, was a significant challenge. However, building these relationships ultimately became one of the most rewarding aspects of his role.

When asked about considering alternative career paths, Travis acknowledged gaining experience in other fields during high school. Nevertheless, their passion for the family business prevailed. Continuing in the RV industry felt like a natural progression for him and his siblings. “Working with family can be both rewarding and challenging,” Bromley admits. Despite occasional hurdles, their shared bond strengthens their business.

The RV industry is experiencing significant transformation, and Travis is optimistic about its future. He highlights the increasing quality of RVs, the growing popularity of camping, and the potential of technological advancements to propel the industry forward. However, he acknowledges the challenges posed by economic factors and the need for continuous adaptation.
