Consumer racial profiling is a serious issue in Canada. According to the Canadian Human Rights Act, it is illegal to deny someone access to any good or service because of their race, colour or ethnicity. Despite this law, customers who are visible minorities are significantly more likely to be followed, searched and ignored in a retail setting.
This training course has been developed to help businesses in Canada address and prevent consumer racial profiling. The course, “Serving All in Canada,” was developed by the Canadian Association of Statutory Human Rights Agencies (CASHRA) and Retail Council of Canada.
The online training course only takes about 20 minutes to complete. It is available in both English and French. Participants who complete the program receive a certificate of completion.
